• Silent when in patrol mode, but when they detect resistance, they activate shockwave emitters that disorient and subdue targets.

🔹 Purpose in the Story:

✅ Always hovering, creating a constant atmosphere of paranoia. 

✅ Used to track the Poet after his escape. 

✅ Later hacked by the Aquarian Rebellion to turn them against their controllers.

🔹 What They Are:

• A form of neurotech used on prisoners and “elite-selected” individuals.

• Implanted at the base of the skull, these devices emit low-frequency signals that disrupt independent thought, reinforcing submission.

• In the Matriarch’s palace, the implants double as pleasure-reward systems, making captives feel euphoric when obeying commands.

• Long-term exposure erodes free will, making individuals forget they were ever free in the first place.

🔹 Purpose in the Story:

✅ The Poet nearly succumbs to the implant under the Matriarch’s influence. 

✅ The Aquarian Rebellion has found a way to short-circuit them, but it comes at a risk. 

✅ The implants are linked to The Wanting—ensuring it has an energetic hold over the enslaved.

3️⃣ The Overseers – Hybrid Enforcers of Order

🔹 What They Are:

• Once-human beings, modified through cybernetics and indoctrination.

• Their bodies are partially mechanized, removing their capacity for free thought and emotion.

• Their eyes glow red or white, indicating different levels of control—white means full compliance, red means partial resistance remains.

• Overseers act as guards, executioners, and interrogators.

• They communicate through coded signals and hive-mind relays, ensuring instant synchronization of enforcement actions.

🔹 Purpose in the Story:

✅ They are the primary enforcers in the labor pits and sky docks. 

✅ One Overseer retains a fragment of his humanity and secretly aids the rebellion. 

✅ Their presence embodies the fear of losing oneself entirely to the system.

4️⃣ The Suppression Fields – No Hope for Escape

🔹 What They Are:

• Massive electromagnetic fields that prevent unauthorized teleportation, blocking energy-based escape methods.

• Kinetic stabilizers ensure that no ship can launch without the proper clearance codes.

• Gravity modulation systems make it nearly impossible to run fast, altering the physics around escape routes.

🔹 Purpose in the Story:

✅ The Sky Docks are protected by these fields, forcing the Poet & Nyxara to disable them before escape. 

✅ The Rebellion has been working on a way to disrupt the field using Verdalisian technology. 

✅ One of the Matriarch’s lovers tried to escape before, but the Suppression Field killed him mid-flight.

5️⃣ The Pulse Rifles – Weapons of Control

🔹 What They Are:

• Non-lethal but excruciatingly painful energy weapons used to suppress workers.

• Emit sonic bursts that disorient, weaken, and collapse targets into a semi-conscious state.

• Capable of memory disruption, making individuals forget recent actions.

• Higher settings can cause permanent nerve damage.

🔹 Purpose in the Story:

✅ Used against the Poet during his recapture.

✅ Nyxara steals one and reverse-engineers it into a liberation weapon. 

✅ The elite carry modified versions that are lethal.
