MEET THE MAIN CHARACTERS

TWO LIVES INTERWOVEN ACROSS SPACE AND TIME

At The First Obelisk

main characters

The second moon has begun to rise and on the Path to the Gate of Clarity, the Poet and the Pattern-Weaver step into the looming shadow of the first obelisk. The Poet halts — suddenly, utterly stilled.

The air shifts.

The light dims.

Without the warmth of the sun on his skin, something deeper begins to move.

A greyness starts to cloak his senses, rising up within him from an inner shadow, creating the whisper of a negative voice. His mind begins to constrict, folding in on itself like a trap, as the intrusive thoughts start to distract him.

In the silence there is no escape. His anxiety stirs the dormant parasites of The Wanting.

A chill coils around his spine.

He remembers the Pattern-Weaver's voice, soft but unshakable, still echoing within the memory of their first meeting on Verdalis:
“So what's it going to be? Do we pass each other by… or do we take responsibility for how our lives unfold?”

The words struck him then and still resonate now like a pulse in the chest.

But even as he recalls them, something beneath the surface begins to unravel. Doubt creeps in — sharp, sudden, and surgical.
'Can I do this?
Can I really face the shadows?
Can I hold on when The Wanting returns?'

And in that flickering instant, a thought that is not his own — cold, oily, and precise — slips into his awareness.

It does not belong to him. But it knows him.
It's the shadow of the Wanting… and it recognizes him.

His breath catches. His body stiffens.
The Poet cannot speak.
He cannot feel.
He cannot move.

He is suspended — trapped in the fracture between past agony and future fear.

The Pattern-Weaver walks ahead, unaware.

Panic surges through the Poets body.
Will he notice? Will he turn back? How long do I have before the shadow seizes me?

He knows the sequence well. He has lived this loop before.
If the thought anchors… The Wanting will flood him — distorting his mind, tearing apart coherence, separating heart from breath, soul from body. This is how The Wanting breaks timelines. This is how it swallows those who dare to rise up, those who dare to love.

Then, just as the panic threatens to fragment him, the wind shifts.

A voice, faint but unmistakable, sounds in his mind.

“If it comes down to it… will you fight for us? Will you stand when reality begins to fracture again?”

He can see the Pattern-Weaver marching forwards with determination.

His voice strikes the chord of remembrance.
And from deep within the Poet, something pulses awake — it is not from his mind, but from the centre of his chest. He
lets out a surge — not a cry, not a word — but energy.
A burst of raw, golden life force from the core of his heart is flung forward like a flare.

He knows the Pattern-Weaver will feel it.
He always does.

But the moment the light leaves him, a jolt of darkness rips across his mind.
The Wanting reacts — clawing back with fury.

The Poet gasps — eyes wide — and collapses, crumpling to the earth beneath the shadow of the obelisk...

AUTHENTIC MASCULINITY

The two main characters represent archetypes of sensitive men.

Both in some relationship of struggle to a system that is not supporting their growth.

They both have aspects of themselves that they don't understand. The poet denies his sensitivity and hides it behind his rage and the pattern-weaver struggles to manage the power that comes with his creative and magical gifts which create additional complications in all areas of his life.

The inner growth covers issues such as mental health, giftedness, autism, personality disruptions and trauma. How an uncompassionate patriarchal world can label and judge individuals and cause them to see themselves as broken rather than celebrate their unique expression and talents.

The story shows how a patriarchal system teaches men to shut down their feelings, isolate, or conform and how this becomes the real root of inner complications. Revealing the truth, that it is the imprinting and conditioning of a broken system that cuts men off from their soul and inner light.

An Unlikely Match: We do not choose who we resonate with in life.

Born into servitude on Thar-Korr, a planet designed to break bodies and spirits. Since childhood, he has been forced into back-breaking labor, existing in a cycle of exhaustion and despair.

He hides his sensitivity behind his rage and survival instincts. Every day is a fight to stay alive, yet he feels drawn to a deeper purpose.

He escapes Thar-Korr but soon realizes he has no understanding of the greater universe. His search for knowledge and meaning leads him to the Pattern-Weaver, igniting a connection that changes everything.

He is yet to learn about his ancestary and his family lineage connecting him to the Zherathari.

Unbeknownst to him, his voice carries immense power—the ability to awaken, alter, and manifest reality through ancient vibratory incantations.
